Shorebirds are beginning to build in numbers already on Smith Lake (seems
early). I counted 36 Greater Yellowlegs, 1 Lesser Yellowlegs, 14
Long-billed Dowitchers, and a distant flock of about 350 peeps, which
appeared to be mostly Leasts, but there were at least a few Westerns mixed

Along with the 250 Great Egrets, 250+ Mallards, and 57 Great White
Pelicans, not to mention all the swallows and starlings, there are a lot of
birds out there right now!
