A White-throated Sparrow is once again at Ashland Pond. Last winter two wintered in that spot. It is at least the fourth straight year WTS have come to that location to winter, making them an uncommon but regular migrant here like Say's Phoebe and Northern Shrike. Other birds worth mention: Eared Grebe at Emigrant Lake, late male adult Western Tanager at Ashland Pond where one has been seen for the past week. http://atowhee.wordpress.com/2014/10/12/october-day-in-the-valley/ In my garden at 2000' elevation I had Varied Thrush for the first time today. Only a few TV s remain in the vicinity now. -- Harry Fuller author of FREEWAY BIRDING, see: *freewaybirding.com <http://freewaybirding.com>* Atowhee@gmail http://www.towhee.net my birding blog: atowhee.wordpress.com
