All, RK After the White-fronts, all i could hear around the house was other birds. Golden-crowned Sparrows, while common elsewhere, are not always seen in my neighborhood, and when I had them here, I knew things were moving. At lunch, I went out to Vancouver Lake, which was surprisingly dead, just Cormorants and no pelicans. I drove north and then found birds---41 American White Pelicans were heading up and out, circling and circling up until they caught the same thermals that were bringing numerous Turkey Vultures and some REd-tailed Hawks through. White-fronts, Cacklers, and Sandhill Cranes were also in the area. Between the area around the lake and Frenchman's Bar, and then driving across Vancouver, I saw at least 40 TVs. Lots of passerine movement as well, and a Merlin earlier this morning in East Vancouver. Ray Korpi rkorpi@xxxxxxxxxxx Vancouver WA
