Hi all, As posted on the Mid-Valley list, today we had what sounded like a Black-throated Gray Warbler singing on the ridge west of our house. Big-leaf maples are in bloom up there but it sounded like it was coming from conifers -- so I'm leaving open the possibility of a very early Hermit Warbler. I don't think it was a Townsend's. Orange-crowned and Audubon's Warblers are also singing regularly now. Yellowthroats have arrived but I haven't heard one singing yet. We had an adult Golden Eagle cruise north along Tampico Ridge today. Although this species is rare in the mid-Willamette Valley, this is the second time that I've recorded one on April 8th, in 10 years of residence at this location. There are some advantages to living next to a ridge that runs north-south, even if it does block our late-afternoon sun. Happy birding, Joel -- Joel Geier Camp Adair area north of Corvallis OBOL archives: www.freelists.org/archive/obol Manage your account or unsubscribe: //www.freelists.org/list/obol Contact moderators: obol-moderators@xxxxxxxxxxxxx
