Dear Chuck,
This isn't the first record of American Redstart in Clackamas County. As I
recall, Roger Robb reported a male American Redstart in a patch of willows
along the Clackamas River about 10 miles SE of Estacada. I don't seem to have
the date of the sighting in my notes, but as I recall it was in July about 1998
or so. It was a one day wonder. I looked for it the next day, but I wasn't
able to relocate it. If Roger is still subscribed to OBOL he may be able to
provide additional details. If we had an archive of OBOL prior to 2002 then we
could probably find the precise date of this sighting since I know that it was
mentioned on OBOL.
Sincerely,
Tim Janzen

I can find no records of American Redstart in Clackamas County before Steve
Jaggers had one there yesterday. Anyone else know of any previous records or
is this a county first?
