The pond on Torvend Road west of Silverton had 22 GREATER YELLOWLEGS poking in the mud on the upper water level at north end of the pond today as we went by in early afternoon. Looked in vain for a smaller cousin. Many ducks and waterfowl in the flooded pond: CINNAMON TEAL, Green-winged Teal, Wigeon, Wood Ducks, Mallards, Ring-necked... Some Pied-billed Grebes and Canada Geese (along w/ "Goosie Lucy/Gus" the domestic that loves the wild group and is usually in the area). Didn't note any DC Cormorants today but a sizeable group has been there the past week. Also had 58 LONG-BILLED DOWITCHERS in the same pond a few days ago. Shorebirds on the move. Good groups for small ponds in out-of-the-way places.
