Subject: Great-tailed Grackles nesting in McDermitt
Hi Alan,
Don't know if this is newsworthy, but the past two days we've seen up to 6
G-t. Grackles along Stateline Street in McDermitt. Female carrying food to
apparent nest in evergreen tree on north side of school building (NV side of
the street). Foraging both sides of Stateline St.
Tried to drive to top of Oregon Canyon Mountains both yesterday (Oregon
Canyon Rd.) but road is impassable for my 2010 Ford Escape all-wheel drive 14
miles from Hwy 95 and today (Disaster Peak - Trout Creek Rd.), but turned
around about 25 miles out from McDermitt due to rocky, rough road. Hot, dry
and dusty, so wet roads not a problem - just concerned about puncturing
tires.
Please post to OBOL if this report is newsworthy.
Thanks,
Aaron
