hi all ... Gene and I went to Fernhill Wetlands this morning to look for the Tri-colored Blackbird ... Blackbirds were on the mud in that first basin near the parking and almost immediately we had the bird !!!! ... I was amazed at how clearly his white showed off compared to the Red-winged Blackbirds ... as we followed the bird down the mud the second Tri-colored appeared ... it was nice to see both together ... one guy has nice white wing markings and the second guy is rather scraggly looking ...
lots of shorebirds were there ... we were hoping for a Phalarope but had no luck there ... saw at least 3 Green Herons ...
once the sun came out we tried for the Tri-colored Blackbird again ... by this time the flock was across the road into the fields ... however as we waited a few flew back to the mud and the scraggly-looking Tri-colored was among them ...
