Talked to Terry Wahl today, nothing rare but here are a few birds seen at the family ranch near Cape Blanco recently: 1- TROPICAL KINGBIRD this morning, calling too. lots of CACKLING GEESE, the most he has ever seen near the mouth of the Elk River, he said around 1,000 plus a couple hundred regular Canadas yesterday. 200 AMERICAN PIPITS around the ranch with a LAPLAND LONGSPUR or two with each flock (one flock of 120 and another about 80) 1- female YELLOW-HEADED BLACKBIRD (he had one overwinter the past two years, maybe again this year?) 1- LESSER GOLDFINCH (unusual on the outer coast, I had a couple at the N. Spit of Coos Bay on the 13th also) 1 BARN SWALLOW (about a week ago) He says there are 3 or 4 PALM WARBLERS around their main barn. They also store lots of grain in the barn and there are about 400 EURASIAN COLLARED-DOVES seemingly permanently entrenched inside and around the barn. That's it for now-enjoy! Tim R Coos Bay
