Knute Andersson and Lois Miller found and photographed a female LARK BUNTING late yesterday afternoon (10/5) at Knute's place SW of Langlois, Curry. This is only the 4th Curry record- nice find you two! This morning Knute had a TROPICAL KINGBIRD at his place!! No Lark Bunting though. I was out and about this AM also. Here are some highlights: Leaving Coos Bay early, about 0645 at dawn, a SHORT-EARED OWL flew right past the front of me, across Hwy 101, and was flying back and forth along the slough there hunting as I motored south toward Curry. End of Cape Blanco, early AM: only could find one LAPLAND LONGSPUR (been a bit thin, too much nice weather?) Sixes River mouth trail area: 1- TROPICAL KINGBIRD (on north side of river) 1- WHITE-THROATED SPARROW 1- incessantly calling SWAMP SPARROW Euchre Creek: 1- subadult male RUFOUS/ALLEN'S HUMMER Blue Silos on way into Floras Lake (north entrance): 1- SAY'S PHOEBE 2- PALM WARBLERS Another day of upper 70's on the south coast, 4 days straight of shorts weather! Merry migration, Tim R Coos Bay
