Hi,

Chuck Philo saw a Common Murre at Depot Slough in Toledo at about
River Mile 12.5 this evening (Oct. 14). This is unusually high in
Yaquina Estuary for Common Murres, which are rare upstream of about
River Mile 5, with most downstream of about River Mile 3. Chuck
carefully watched it, and it appeared healthy and was swimming and
diving. Perhaps it was a young-of-the-year murre.

Chuck also saw a Red-shouldered Hawk near the USFWS Building by the
Hatfield Marine Science Center Nature Trail. Roy Lowe photographed an
immature Red-shouldered in that area last week.
