Enjoyed the seawatch from 7:40-8:25 a.m. with a number of other birders. Returned to the site about 2:30 p.m, and stayed until 4:40 p.m. Still large numbers of birds going by. More BLACK LEGGED KITTIWAKES than earlier in the day, mostly juveniles, many HEERMANN'S GULLS and CASSIN'S AUKLETS, more FULMARS closer in, a few SOOTY SHEARWATERS also in close, some no more than one hundred yards offshore. Most intriguing was a mid sized alcid which flew by sixty yards offshore at 4:20. It was larger than a CASSIN'S AUKLET, smaller than a RHINOCEROUS AUKLE, thick necked, big headed, solid blackish gray throughout, including the entire underparts, and had a fluttery wingbeat. I was not able to detect bill color. I wish some of the other birders had still been around.
