Seeing as I live in the Grants Pass area, I'm interested in this sighting. I'm willing to take a look at this bird if it's still around. Indigo Buntings are not an every year sighting in Josephine County, but there has been a good number of them found here. In fact I banded one (Indigo that is). Have seen both Blue Grosbeaks and Indigo Buntings in the past years.

Karen, if the person is willing who found this bird, I can come a take a look. It could be a male Indigo fledgling from last year, thus the "khaki" wings. Last years bird would have brownish flight feathers.

That is a very unusual sighting. Indigo Bunting should also be considered. I recall at least one report of Blue Grosbeaks that proved to be of Indigo Buntings. Indigo Buntings are also rare in Oregon, though not as rare as Blue Grosbeaks. Photographs should be taken if possible.

A friend mentioned a pair of birds at her feeder, one blue with "khaki" wings and one the same brown with black wing bars. I showed her a picture of Blue grosbeaks and she confirmed. Is this an unusual sighting(before I urge her to report a rare bird sighting).
