Seeing as I live in the Grants Pass area, I'm interested in this sighting. I'm willing to take a look at this bird if it's still around. Indigo Buntings are not an every year sighting in Josephine County, but there has been a good number of them found here. In fact I banded one (Indigo that is). Have seen both Blue Grosbeaks and Indigo Buntings in the past years.
Karen, if the person is willing who found this bird, I can come a take a look. It could be a male Indigo fledgling from last year, thus the "khaki" wings. Last years bird would have brownish flight feathers.

That is a very unusual sighting. Indigo Bunting should also be considered. I recall at least one report of Blue Grosbeaks that proved to be of Indigo Buntings. Indigo Buntings are also rare in Oregon, though not as rare as Blue Grosbeaks.
