That’s a very good price. This is the paperback, slightly revised to fix a few
typos and add a page of new species. The hardcover is all but OP; there are a
few available here and there.
This is as good a time as any to answer the occasional question Matt and I get
about when/if/how there will be a new edition of Birds of Oregon, which is now
13 years downstream. The answer is, some very preliminary misty insubstantial
but nonetheless substantive conversations are happening. There is a tentative,
uncertain and yet increasingly plausible possibility that something yet to be
named, conceived or even described might occur in the period 2020-2023. But
we’re not sure.
A project like Birds of Oregon is not lightly undertaken. Fools may rush in,
but their bodies will be found in the spring thaw.
