Have you tried installing from the real installed version rather than from the portable one? Maybe that would solve the problem, I dunno; it seems no one else can reproduce it really so far.

Hi,

I haven't yet deleted the data of Emoticons 1.0 from the
appdata/roaming/nvda/addons folder because I"m still reluctant to meddle
with it. I really want the emoticons update but I don't want to break
something and I don't know if all the data for the addon is in that
folder. What if the addon still shows up in the list but all its data is
gone and so it won't let NVDA start? What if for some reason the same
error occurs again? Why is this being such a pain? Nobody seems to have
any explanation for me but the problem is consistent when I try to
uninstall or update this addon in any way, so there has to be something
in NVDA that's causing it, but I don't know what and I'm sick of
breaking my screen-reader and having to reinstall from the portable and
being back at Square 1 with no answers.
