thanks, a very helpful tip.
BTW, since I last posted I have tried again with Firefox and I am pleased to
say that the links are working with it. What is more the Independent loaded
correctly this time.

So all in all I am a lot happier than I was this morning

My advice to solve that would be to look through the contents list and search
for the text of the heading as the next likely occurrence will be the title of
the article. For example, I wanted to read an article in Friday’s Telegraph and
the contents list said it was called ‘Middle-class pupils lose out on places at
grammars’ so I put that into the search box and the next occurrence containing
that text was the heading of that article with the article directly underneath.

Hope that helps,

Alice

Thanks for your feedback. I am using NVDA and IE11 is my default browser,
but I have also tried Firefox with similar results.

Yes I accept that you can search for words or phrases, but more often than not
I wish to see what news items and features are listed and then read any that
might be of interest. Especially those not covered by the broadcast media.

I can sort of sympathise with you on this issue as to start with I was facing a
similar problem and to start with I was having to use my Refreshable Braille
Display to check exactly what I was selecting as JAWS would announce the wrong
thing. If any, which screenreader do you use? And which browser do you use? I
use Internet Explorer with JAWS 15 and a Refreshable Focus 40 Blue Braille
Display. And regarding the HTML links, they do not work that well for me
either, my advice would be, if you use JAWS, to use a feature called JAWS Find
(CTRL+JAWSKey+F) and search for the title of the article you want to read. For
me the links are only useful to find out the name of each article.

Hope this helps,

Alice

It seems to me that far from improving, the new service such as it is, is going
from bad to worse.

the list of problems I am having accessing the text I wish to read is growing
ever longer.

this morning in addition to none of the HTML links working within the newspaper
selected, the newspaper chosen bore no connection to the one I wanted. When
clicking on The Independent, I got a finance magazine and when clicking on The
Guardian I got a supplement called I think G2 S. No matter what I did I could
not get the main paper.

If anyone is interested I can supply a very long list of outstanding
deficiencies' and faults with the new service, but it would take too long!

Despite RNIB setting up this forum, I , notice that so far no one responsible
for running the service has responded to any of the matters raised so far.
