Hi All,

This sounds like an incredible opportunity for a high school student interested
in STEM subjects. Prof. Cardinal Warde who is a tenured professor at MIT is one
of our Board of Advisor members and he is one of the founders of this
organization. Pass it on!

All the best,

Lisa

Dear Friends of the Caribbean Science Foundation:

1. I wish to draw your attention to the opening of the application process for
the 2013 Student Program for Innovation in Science and Engineering (SPISE) at
our website (http://caribbeanscience.org). Please encourage high school
students you know to apply to this program. This is a unique opportunity for
students with strong interest in pursuing careers in science and engineering to
spend 4 weeks of total immersion in STEM in Barbados this summer (all expenses
paid). Student applicants must be at least 16 years of age but less than 18
years of age on July 1, 2013, and have completed CXC exams or equivalent in
math and science subjects. The SPISE 2013 will run from July 20 to August 17,
2013, and will be held again at the UWI-Cave Hill campus in Barbados, with UWI
and CXC providing critical resources and support. Please see videos of last
year's program, application forms for students, teaching assistants and
instructors, and be sure to read the frequently asked questions (FAQs) at
http://caribbeanscience.org. The application deadline is April 22, 2013.

2. I also wish to alert you that project entries for the Sagicor Visionaries
Challenge are due on February 16, 2013. Please encourage secondary/high school
students that you know to submit poster entries. In this competition, students
form teams to propose solutions to a problem in their school or community using
science and technology. This competition is in its first year and is open to
schools in 12 Caribbean Countries – Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados,
Belize, Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, Jamaica, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia,
Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, and Trinidad & Tobago. There are prizes and
trips for the winners at the National and Regional levels! See
http://sagicorvisionaries.org/site for details (Challenge description,
competition rules and application forms, etc). A summary of the Sagicor
Visionaries Challenge is also available at http://caribbeanscience.org

We would very much appreciate your help in spreading the word that applications
are now being accepted for SPISE 2013 and that poster entries are being
accepted for the Sagicor Visionaries Challenge. Please forward this e-mail to
students, teachers, principals, guidance counselors, family and friends. We
thank you in advance for your assistance.

With Warmest Regards,

Cardinal
