The Research Coalition for Black Women & Girls in Computing is pleased to
announce the Inaugural Black Women in Computing Conference, which will take
place on January 4-6, 2017, at Howard University, in Washington, DC.
"Sometimes, I feel discriminated against, but it does not make me angry. It
merely astonishes me. How can any deny themselves the pleasure of my company?
It's beyond me."  Zora Neale Hurston

As black women in computing, we often learn and work in environments in which
we are the "only ones". History contains little mention of our contributions to
computing and the impact of our work.  We realize that if we do not tell our
own stories very few others will.
This year, our inaugural conference theme will be Honoring the Past,
Celebrating the Present, and  Looking to the Future.  During the conference we
will: 1) Validate and delve deeper into the strategies and plan of action as
defined by participants in the inaugural Black Women in Computing workshop; 2)
Cross-reference those analyses with any new or unexplored intersectional
experiences of black women in CS; and 3) Lay the foundation for a larger,
international conference for black women in computing.
Join us to hear inspiring speakers, fellowship with amazing thought leaders,
and participate in community-building activities!
