I was showing Vince Eta Carina neb last night in my t5 31mm then I put the OIII and showed him again. It really does love that OIII. I don't bother using a filter on Orion Neb it's such a bright sucker there isn't a lot of Benefit. but that is just me. Could easily pick out E and F in the trap. I'll dig up an image labelling a some of the objects in Eta Carina. you might as well look and learn a few it makes looking at Eta Carina a lil more pleasing than just the neb itself. Vince and I spent about an or so together then Vince left and I stay up for maybe another hour. The sky looked cruddy, lots of particles in the air. but I think both Vince and I were pleasantly surprised the views were nice and crispy clear. I'm having an encoder problem with the AN so we had do it manual. Thor's Helmet and NGC 2070 with OIII were really nice. I had a hard day at the office today so I'm relaxing and sucking back a few beers. Maybe a quick session after midnight tonight if it is clear. Hi all, I had a good session last night, mainly PN's. Eta Carinae nebula was so detailed, Keyhole and other dark lanes stood out beautifully. The star itself was hammered by the filter, but overall the whole region looked more interesting than the Orion Nebula region. The Argo performed well, going from one PN to another with the 5mm and O-III filter in place. Might as well make the most of it before that giant cyclone clobbers Qld. Cheers, Paul. I was out for a while last night just with my binocs - it was lovely (except for the darn mossies). I think we should enjoy it while we can by the looks of that cyclone. js _____ From: nswnra-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:nswnra-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Corona Australis Sent: Monday, 31 January 2011 5:56 PM To: nswnra@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [nswnra] Re: Do we dare plan for a get-together???
