CERT/CC Current Activity: Peido-B Trojan Horse / "Mother's Day" Virus

On May 8, 2003, the Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT) announced that
it has received reports of a Trojan program Peido-B, also known as the
Mother's Day Virus. It arrives in an e-mail as an undeliverable message,
and downloads and runs an executable file when the user opens the file
attachment. CERT strongly advises updating anti-virus software, filtering
files with the .hta extension from e-mails, and monitoring outgoing HTTP
GET requests for .exe files.
