Don't Put All Your Data in One Basket
The war in Iraq and the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001 both showed
how vulnerable a country's communications infrastructure can be to physical
damage. Therefore, to guarantee an uninterrupted flow of data even in times
of crisis, in addition to cyber security measures, organizations must also
implement diversity and redundancy of physical communications links.
Different communications carriers often share cables, telecom hotels and
other resources, so true redundancy can only be achieved by ensuring that
links actually travel via separate routes.
