Controversy surrounding high-tech voting

With voting difficulties during the past presidential election still fresh
in the memory, some states, including Florida, Texas, Maryland and Georgia,
have installed high-tech voting machines in some areas. These systems are
praised for their simplicity, accuracy and impartiality, but problems
remain. The most widely used voting machines do not produce a paper receipt
indicating which candidate someone voted for. In addition, use of voting
machines has shown them to be vulnerable to "tampering, human error and
computer malfunctions."
