Announcing the Viking Treasure Chest of Tech Resources:

Greetings,

- With billions of web pages in existence, how does a teacher find sites
that are high quality, educationally sound, and relevant to what they teach?
- And now with many states having new Academic Content Standards, how does a
teacher find web resources that specifically align to objectives that may be
new to them or their students?
- Furthermore, how does a teacher share with others an excellent web page
they have discovered?

To help assist educators with these questions, the North Canton City School
District has developed the Viking Treasure Chest of Technology Resources.
The Viking Treasure Chest is an online collection of Internet resources that
align to and support the Ohio Academic Content Standards. The idea is to
have excellent web sites linked to each and every objective in all of the
standards. That way as educators teach the standards in their classrooms,
they will have many useful and relevant resources available to assist them
and their students.

The Treasure Chest is arranged by subject area and then by grade level
(K-12). Within each grade level are all of the Academic Content Standards
for that area. For each objective in the standards, there are resource
entries. Each entry contains a title, a description, and a link to that
Internet resource. As the Treasure Chest is still relatively new, not all
objectives have linked resources yet, however the number is constantly
growing.

To help the Treasure Chest grow, each objective has a link that allows any
user to suggest a new resource. Your information is then sent to us, where
we will review it, and then add it within the next few days.

The address for the Treasure Chest is:
http://www.northcanton.sparcc.org/~techresources/

Please take some time to visit the Treasure Chest, find great resources, add
some of your own, and provide us feedback concerning how we can make this
better. Information on how to contact me is listed below.

Sincerely,

Eric Curts, Technology Specialist
