Prizes range from $250 to $1000 savings bonds. "Did you know that the decisions you make about the canned tuna you buy can affect the survival of dolphins in the Pacific Ocean? By choosing tuna with the "dolphin-safe" label, you are helping to protect dolphins by ensuring that the tuna was not caught in a way that harmed dolphins. Unfortunately, the dolphin-safe label is now in danger of being weakened. The United States Department of Commerce, a federal agency, is planning to allow tuna caught using a fishing technique that hurts dolphins to be packaged with the dolphin-safe label. This type of fishing is called "purse seine fishing," and results in the death of thousands of dolphins every year."
