This came in today's mail from TNA.............

UPDATE ON WINKLER COUNTY NURSES

1. TNA has posted a copy of the
complete transcript of the criminal
trial on its website

www.texasnurses.org

<http://www.texasnurses.org/>

The transcript is divided into five
volumes - one for each day of the
trial plus one for exhibits. To assist
readers in finding testimony, TNA has
prepared and posted a detailed outline
of the transcript and also broken out
and posted separately the testimony of
the physician, sheriff, hospital
administrator and two nurses (FNP and
LVN) who practiced at the Rural Health
Clinic where the physician practiced.

2. The TNA Legal Defense Fund has been
able to cover all of Anne and Vicki's
defense fees and costs in the criminal
trial, which amounted to over $40,000.
Thanks again to everyone for helping
make this happen.

3. TNA honored Vicki and Anne at the TNA
House of Delegates with its President's
Award. Anne and Vicki as well as
John Cook, one of their attorneys,
attended. Both Anne and Vicki expressed
their thanks for the help of their
nursing colleagues and how that support
helped them make it through their ordeal.

4. Anne and Vicki's civil suit in federal
court against the physician, county,
hospital administrator, sheriff, district
attorney and county attorney remains
pending. A second attempt at
court-ordered mediation in April was
unsuccessful. The trial is tentatively
set for November 2010 but probably not
likely to occur until later. The
defendants have filed a number of motions
claiming they cannot be sued based on their
status as governmental entities or officials.
The nurses' attorneys have filed opposing
motions. No date has been set by the court
for hearing these preliminary motions.
