Premier Oil makes gas discovery in Indonesia
LONDON (Dow Jones): Premier Oil on Tuesday announced a gas discovery in
Indonesia with its operated Macan Tutul-1 exploration well, in the Natuna Sea
Block A license.
The well is located 12 kilometers southeast of the Premier operated Anoa field.
In line with pre-drill targets, the gas is in the upper and middle Arang
sandstones, the company said.
Casing is being set before drilling ahead to deeper reservoir objectives, which
should be reached by the end of the week.
Premier is the operator of West Natuna Block A with a 28.67 percent interest,
and the other partners in the block are Kufpec (33.33 percent), Amerada Hess
(23 percent) and Petronas (15 percent).
The Dore-1 exploration well in Mauritania has been drilled to a total depth of
2,266 meters, Premier Oil said.
Wireline logging has been completed and indicates the well has not encountered
any significant hydrocarbons. The well is now being plugged and abandoned.
The 'Stena Tay' rig will now be released. The 'Atwood Hunter' is scheduled to
commence the 2006 Mauritanian exploration program in early second quarter 2006,
the company said.
Simon Lockett, chief executive, commented: "The gas discovered by Macan Tutul
is close to existing infrastructure and adds to Premier's continually growing
gas reserves in West Natuna Block A". (**)
