Indonesian religious minister sets up anti-terrorism team

JAKARTA, Nov. 20 (Xinhuanet) -- Indonesian Religious Affairs Minister
Maftuh Basyuni said he had formed an anti-terrorism team to deal with possible
development of false religious understanding following the death of terrorist
leader Azahari recently.
"I have already set up the team but I have not reported its
technicality to the president and vice president," Antara news agency on Sunday
quoted the minister as saying in Surabaya, the second largest city in the
country, on Saturday.
The team would have taskforces whose tasks include destroying
religious books that incite terrorist activities and tracing information about
figures behind terror incidents, he said.
"What is clear is that Muslem clerics have been of the view after
watching a video on jihad found by police at a location where terrorist Noordin
M Top once stayed that terrorism is not a religious teaching," he said.
They have said that jihad as understood by the terrorists was even
against any religious teaching, he added.
"No religion in the world teaches terrorism and therefore we will
form a team to overcome terrorism from a religious term," he said Enditem
