Thank you.
My name was correct all along in the accounts section. I have now
changed the machine name and it has also changed what I read across
the top of System Profiler but not what it says for machine name
under hardware.

However, under hardware overview its still reads;

   Machine Name: Power Mac G3 (PCI graphics)

So . . . do I have a G3 or a G4?

Theresa

Hi Theresa
You will find both in System Preferences.

User Name Click on Accounts and the there is a space to type in the
name, you might have to click on the lock on the bottom to edit this
info.

Machine name click on sharing and you will find a field were you can
edit the machine's name.
