Yes, it's easy to block pop-ups in Safari. (Setting is in Safari menu 
and also in Preferences.) PithHelmet does much more - it blocks *all* 
advertising messages on websites. (It can be configured to be more or 
less aggressive in what it identifies as advertising.)
