did a full wipe and reinstall all is well..... well, i have an anti virus, on all the time, and afirewall, likewise on all the time. I run Sprybot S&D daily, ada ware, daily, anitspam beta daily, etc etc. I found that one of the problems is with one of the downloads from microsoft..the update that has to do with the Journal viewer screws up something in Roxio and that is why all the send-to problems were occurring...never found out why Word wouldn;t stick as the editor, or why it detect and repair, but i suspect it may be becausee i had it installed in a diffeent directory than th eOperating System....i think what happend with Yahoo was that either my fingers went too fast and I didn;t realize i hit send or it just got glitchy.HAve an 80 gig harddrive now for the OS and i can comfortably install all programs onto it. When the C drive startd to get full I got panicky and started instlling into one of my much bigger other drives. So far, i have not had a virus or trogan,,,cross my fingers! I have just gotten into playing with the machine lately and using Register mechanic....i think there were just too many changes being made in a short period of time that i couldnt find my way out of....and i know too little to be sure that what i do won;t have other repercussions down the line. I appreciate the input ......thanks very much! I have decided to be much more methodical in my playing around from now on! I may have to put the old off the shelf machine back together (well, get it put back together................vbg) and have it as a stand alone so that i can poke around to my hearts content. again, thanks! xpprosp2mso2003user "Dian D. This is what i want to do. I am not worried that I am getting an error that refers to something that is untrue, i am getting an error that refers to something that is tre. I set my email editor to be WORD, but, voila, when i get an error message that word is unavailble(either it is not installed, or is not the correct version) neither of these is true. I DO have it installed, and it IS the ocrrect version. When I go to word itself, it tells me that the wpord is not registered blahb lah...when i open up word documents that I made pre-mess, i cannot clock on the links and have them do anything. When I click on access, i get a major run-a round. I have detected andrepaired both outlook and word several or more times. I have uninstalledand reinstialled OFFICE twice. I have uninstalled and reinstalled all the u pdates. i am unable to use word as my email editor and I want to use word as my email editor. If i didn;t want to use word as my email editor, i would have unchecked it and not gotten the error message. The reason that i haveit checked is because i WANT TO USE word.......lol....llit is seeming to be impossible without a full wipe of the opeerating system. I am more than frustrated at this point. Mike Breen wrote: TRY THIS A few things you can check - in OUTLOOK, you have the option of using WORD as your email editor, or Outlook itself. From what it sounds like, you may have it set to the first one. Start OUTLOOK, and goto TOOLS => OPTIONS => MAIL FORMAT and uncheck "Use Microsoft Word as your email editor". See if that makes a difference. also do you have Symantec installed?? See the Microsoft Knowledge Base articles, You cannot use Word as your e-mail editor when Symantec Norton AntiVirus is installed on your computer and Outlook/WordMail Tries to Use Word Viewer as Editor. http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;329382&Product=wrd You cannot use Word as your e-mail editor when Symantec Norton AntiVirus is installed on your computer and http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=166050 Outlook/WordMail Tries to Use Word Viewer as Editor or Try this. Open My Computer and go to Tools > Folder Options and click on the File Types tab. Click on (NONE) URL:MailTo Protocol > Advanced. Make sure that open is selected and click on Edit. Where it say's "Application used to perform action" paste the below string. C:\PROGRA~1\MICROS~2\Office10\OUTLOOK.EXE" -c IPM.Note /m "%1" and click OK. Reboot and let us know if this helped. Last suggestion edit HotKeys upgrading; however, a file-level view of the Outlook folder in C:\\Program Files may indicate an "Office 10" and an "OFFICE 11," so assuming that it was upgraded at some point (I don't recall specifically simply because XP routinely asks me to upgrade MS programs on my computer!). However, the registry edit link you provided does not include deletion instructions for Office 10, only 8 and 9. Update: OK, this is getting very not-funny. I did everything it said, including the necessary backups. I deleted the Office/8 and Office/9 keys in LOCAL MACHINE and CURRENT USER. I did a reboot and fired up Outlook again. Same problem. Alternatively do a restore point to a date prior when your systerm worked ok Hope these help Mike _______________________________________________________________ How "hot" is the hottest creature on Earth? postmaster.co.uk http://www.postmaster.co.uk/cgi-bin/meme/quiz.pl?id=6 ************************************************************* You are receiving this mail because you subscribed to mso@xxxxxxxxxxxxx or MicrosoftOffice@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx To send mail to the group, simply address it to mso@xxxxxxxxxxxxx To Unsubscribe from this group, send an email to mso-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the word "unsubscribe" (without the quotes) in the subject line.
