[mso] Word XP Problem

I just installed Word from Office XP Professional CD and everytime I do a 
keystroke the whole line turns black and you cannot see the type.  I 
uninstalled it and installed it again and it does the same thing.  I did a work 
around (turned the background in format to white - which turned the screen 
gray) and can see type now, but I have to do it on each document.  I downloaded 
all of the current updates from Microsoft Office for my version and that did 
not help.
Any suggestions?
