extracting the value in the worksheet before performing the merge is one way
to go but if we could get help from some of the better word experts, maybe
we could force word to treat the value as a number then use the numeric
picture switch "\# xx##" to display only 2 characters to the right.
i'd love to see it work but in my sample, i have a field formatted in excel
as a 4 digit number. when i do the merge to word using that field the value
seems to get treated as text and so the picture switch does not work.
