Hi Norma....I replied to you in Wintips also...but here's what I said in case yahoo is playing games and you get this one first: Norma....runtime errors in an Office program are usually associated with macros or addins. Do you have some other software that tries to run inside Word? Like EZ Photo or Adobe Acrobat? If so, that's what may be causing these errors. What exactly were the "corrupt" files? Search your hard drive for a folder called Startup. This folder is usually located at C:\Windows\ Application data\ Microsoft\ Word\ Startup (Or if you run Windows 2000 or have multiple Windows profiles, look in your user profile or all users for your application data folder. Or, if all else fails, search your hard drive for startup and you will find it.) If there are any files in there, move them all to another location and see if Word launches. If it does, then move the files back one at a time until you find the culprit.=20 Linda Publisher ~ ABC ~ All 'Bout Computers Owner ~ Linda's Computer Stop http://personal-computer-tutor.com FREE MS Office eBook Tutorial http://personal-computer-tutor.com/library.htm =20 -----Original Message----- From: mso-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:mso-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of norma Sent: Sunday, December 01, 2002 8:34 PM To: "Undisclosed-Recipient:"@host17.christianwebhost.com; Subject: [mso] Winword and Run Time Messages I have received several Winword and Runtime messages the past few months. I generally work through them and everything seems fine for a few weeks and then they start again.=20 1.In the past I have been advised to delete normal.dot, and I have done that several times. 2.Also was told to scan and clean my computer thoroughly... I did this. 3.Someone told me to turn off the graphics... I did this and it did not help.=20 4. I was told to reun Microsoft Word 2000. This I did last week, and immediately after this I was doing a System Check and was told that I now have 5 corrupted files.=20 It took an hour but I finally restored these 5 files. This was strange because I have been having problems with the Win Word and Runtime messages since I purchased this computer 2 l/2 years ago and I have suspected that my computer may have corrupted files from the beginning. If this is true I don't dare use the Word 2000 CD again. I am wondering if uninstalling Word 2000 and Works 2000 and installing a newer version would solve my problems. Not trying to answer my own questions but supply you with enough information this time to help in resolving this nasty and time consuming problem.=20 What can be done to once and for all stop these message? I have a Gateway Computer, Microsoft Word 98, Word 2000 Please use simple terms for this newbie.
