Well, if normal.dot is corrupt, this can happen....it's also a symptom of a macro virus...it also happens when there's some kind of add-in running and Word thinks it changed normal.dot in some way. You can try a Detect and Repair, since that's easy to do....but, first I'd try renaming normal.dot to something like normal.old and see if it stops happening...if so, then you know it's normal.dot...if not, I'd be sure to run a thorough virus check...then, if it's still happening I'd check my Word Startup folder for add-ins that might be running in the background and remove them all and put one back at a time until you find the culprit Usually it's the add-in thing causing it Linda Linda's Computer Stop http://personal-computer-tutor.com ABC Free Ezine ~ Free Ebooks and Tutorials *all outgoing mail scanned by Norton AV. I know I've ticked the option in Tools to be prompted to save changes to the normal template but this is happening when all I've done is open Word, and therefore load the normal template, then close it down immediately without having done a single thing! Seems to me as if it's trying to alter things without my knowledge - or it's having a mental breakdown. Is this just a simple Detect and Repair trigger or is there something else I've overlooked. I know it's relatively trivial, but I'm sure one day I will click yes instead of no and instantly regret it! ------------------------- Anne Robson ************************************************************* You are receiving this mail because you subscribed to mso@xxxxxxxxxxxxx or MicrosoftOffice@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx To send mail to the group, simply address it to mso@xxxxxxxxxxxxx To Unsubscribe from this group, send an email to mso-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the word "unsubscribe" (without the quotes) in the subject line.
