Hi Joe,

Case 1: If it is a virus some of the macros have been
written in your excel template. So find "Personal.xls"
in your system and delete the file. If you still
recieve the message refer case 2.

Case 2: Your excel file might have some hidden
workbooks to store some information which basically
intend to avoid user alterations. The information from
that sheet might linked to your active workbook. So
you search for hidden workbooks thru "Window" menu
from excel. This happens with preconfigured excel file
such as finance statement, tax calculator etc.

Case 3: If you made a copy and paste from some other
work book, say the range contains some formula. Excel
automatically establish a link to that workbook. So
you check your formulas for the link with external
workbook.

The link to other workbook is one of the best features
in excel. This is not an error nor a virus. This will
help the small organization to maintain data
effectively. Try one of theese.

All the best

Arul
