I had this problem and found that my search engine did not look into hidden
directories. It would not find the *.pst files. After I changed the
attributes on the directory all is well

is identical and that Search function finds *.pst files without any
problems.

suggested to everyone that they periodically locate and save (to the Server)
their Outlook.pst files for use in the event of a total disaster with the
own work station. All was well until one person was unable to find the file
using the XP Search facility. The file exists in the normal location
(Documents and settings>user>Local
Settings>ApplicationData>Microsoft>Outlook) so can anyone explain why it
could not be found? I have selected 'Show hidden files and folders' which I
thought may have obstructed the search. (This particular PC is using Outlook
2002 SP2 and XP Service Pack 1).
