What kindof data are you looking for, James?

The kind of data that would let me know "what is going on".

As I think about it, I think of the data that my FTP tool displays:
complete communication information.

But I'm not sure. To answer, I'd need to know what data IS available.
Like is it trying to connect, is it waiting for a response, is it in the
process of downloading, how many mails are there, is it deleting mail
from the server.

Status information I guess: what is happening.
