If I remember correctly, when I first got 2002 it didn't do this...it also
didn't expand folders when they had messages in their subfolders ... I
believe both things were corrected with the SP1 patch. Make sure you have
ALL the updates for Office XP (2002). I'm using 2003 now, so I really can't
remember, but I do believe this was fixed with one of the patches.

Subject: [mso] Outlook 2000 vs. 2002, shortcuts showing # of unread messages
In outlook 2000 when I had unread messages in folders(which I sort based on
source), it would indicated the number of unread messages. I have started
using 2002 and it has yet to display the number of unread messages.
Is there a setting that I need to switch on?
Is there a way to get 2002 to display the number more quickly, like a
recalculate function?
Will 2002 eventually display the # of unread messages?
TIA
