Suki,

While I don't have a magic answer to your problem, I'm curious as to
your comment about the lack of a 'setup.exe' file...

On my retail version of Office XP Pro, setup.exe resides in the root
folder of the first CD. Perhaps double check that the root folder on
your CD is the same?

Regards

Dear all,

How is everyone doing?

I have been trying to install Office XP Professional on my comp but just
can't=20
get passed the system file updates stage. According to the=20
www.microsoft.com/ork website, setup.exe now installs system file update

files including IE5 before it proceeds to install office XP.

This is where I got stuck, halfway through "configuring system file
updates",=20
it tells me "Error 25202, Cannot install portions of the required System
Files=20
Update: IE5. You can try installing Internet Explorer by running=20
IE5Setup.exe from the IE5 folder located on your CD, or contact..." All
i can=20
do is press OK and nothing has been done. I need to tell the installer
not to=20
install IE5 and proceeds with the rest, but how?

My queries:
1) I have IE6, isn't that good enough? >;)

2) the ork website above mentions that i can do a command-line=20
like "setup.exe NOIE=3Dtrue" to bypass the installation of IE, but it
doesn't=20
seem to work, the same error appears. =20

3) did i miss some other parameter in the command line? the ork website

doesn't provide an example that uses NOIE=3DTRUE as an example -
 "setup.exe NOIE=3Dtrue" is only my guess, although it mentions =
everywhere

that we can use this property and value for its said purpose.

4) I do not have setup.exe in the CD, instead, i have setuppls.exe,=20
setuppro,exe, setupstd.exe, setupppt.exe, and all other individual=20
componenets etc... will these work the same as setup.exe?

Please help, I am almost giving up on this...=20

May I wish everyone a merry xmas and a happy new year.

regards
sukii
