I was just going to reply to your PowerPoint questions Robert and ask if
it might perhaps be a printer problem. Here's a suggestion, install a
new printer as you normally would...any default, preferably an HP will
do. The reason I say HP is because it's what I know. Set this fake
printer as the default then look at your problem PPT...see what happens.

Subject: [mso] Office XP & Epson CX6400

As this involves hardware (printer/scanner) and also Office
applications, I asked Linda before posting if she thought this was ok
for MSO since my problems seem to be MS Office related to this printer.

I have an All-in-1 Epson CX6400 scanner/printer (not a fax).

This is my replacement sent to me from Epson to replace the original
printer, which was jamming all the time. By jamming, I mean paper was
continuously feeding through, whether or not I was actually printing.
Only turning the printer off stopped the feeding. So Epson graciously
replaced it.

Whereas before, MS Office worked well with the printer, however now,
this particular printer/scanner acts like it is partially working with
MS Office applications the affected applications.

Now the quirky/weird behavior:
1. It will NOT print from Word.
2. It will NOT print from Excel
3. It will NOT print from Outlook, however, 4. I will NOT print from
Microsoft Paint.
5. It will NOT print from Access.
6. It will NOT print from Power Point.
7. It WILL print an email from Eudora.
8. It WILL print PDF attachments in Eudora just fine.
9. It WILL print from Adobe Photo Shop +sometimes+.
10. It WILL print from Lotus 123.

This does not make sense, at least, not to me. Why does it apparently
work with non-Office applications but work with everything else?

Looking at the above, it acts if it does not want to print from the
Office family. Why not print anything in the Office family? Any ideas?
(I need to print in Word, Excel and Power Point as soon as I can.)

I just can't get over it printing PDF files only if they are attached in
Eudora.

I am using Windows XP Pro. I have and use Norton 2004. It is updated
daily at midnight. I run Spybot once a week. The driver for CX6400 is
from Epson, supposedly for Windows XP.

Does anyone see anything obvious that I have missed in troubleshooting?
I have tried to print several test pages which fail for me, but however
it prints in -some- applications. Any ideas? I would be grateful for
some suggestions for anything I overlooked.

I have had one person say it is Office's fault, but I disagree. Office
printed just fine on the previous machine, but not this one.

Thank you.

Robert
