Hi Anne...unfortunately there's not much you can do about this. All email accounts allow people to put anything they want in the "From" section, so spammers are able to cloak their emails so they appear to be coming from someone other than them. I am constantly getting emails from myself (that I never sent) and I'm also constantly getting emails from ISPs telling me they are blocking mail I sent becuz it contains viruses. Well, it ain't true and ISPs SHOULD know how to check the header to see the actual sender is not me, but they are just too lazy...and it REALLY ticks me off. I also get email all the time from buntah@xxxxxxxx, which was an email address I used about five years ago....that address hasn't existed in five years, but obviously SOMEONE has it in their address book and it is still grabbed by spammers and viruses. This spamming technique is similar to the way virus "worms" work...they grab random email addresses from people's address books....when you are in a lot of address books, this happens to you more often. Unfortunately, it's not something we can do a lot about :-( But, it is a reason why I am VERY hesitant to report people as spammers unless I'm 100% sure they are indeed the one who sent the email. If you received a "bug" that looked like it came from me, it did NOT! -----Original Message----- From: mso-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:mso-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Anne Robson Sent: Friday, September 23, 2005 5:38 AM To: mso@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [mso] My email account being cloned - ?
