Hi Kathie, I'll try to help you if I can, and I'll do it for free. That's what this = list is all about. I'm fairly good at MS Access. I've been at it for a = long time. Now let's see if I have this correct. You have 2 separate = databases and you want to bring data from one into another?? This will = be a tad tricky to say the least. You'll notice that all the donors have = some kind of ID-number. This is how the donors are matched to each of = their donations. They must all have a "unique" ID. Ultimately, you'll = have to make it so all the donations match the donor THROUGH this unique = ID. You mentioned Old database and New database, and that there were 100 = records. If you have "George Bush" who is ID #82 in one database, and = "George Bush" who is ID #67 in the other database, then (since it's only = 100 records) I'm afraid you're better off redoing the whole thing. Can = you get printouts of all the data from both databases? If so, I can make = up a brand new one if you like, then you can just re-enter the data and = all will be perfect. Again, if it's only 100 records, in a few hours = you'll be done. I could (maybe??) merge the data in both databases but = that would be a little tedious and take a few hours as well. That is... = if I were there in person working on files. To try to "explain" what to = do in an Email wouldn't be so easy. That is... if it can be done at all. = If the donor ID numbers don't match in each database you're up ships = creek ANYWAY. Feel free to Email me off list with any more details. My = address is" kp@xxxxxxxx I hope I can be of some assistance. Peter C. I am in about my 6 month at a struggling non-profit and just this morning I finally managed to open the donor database from the previous Executive Director. The good news is that she kept records in Access and I'm keeping records in Access. However, the access database I'm using was designed by someone else, is really pretty complicated and includes tables and sub tables. The subtables include a space where I can keep track of every donation a donor gives me.=20 The old data base has records of 2002 donations and 2003 donations and their designations. I want to get that information into the donation part of my database (or maybe it can be a separate tab on the main form which brings me to a subform, I think) The key is that I need this information to merge with the right person in my donor database. There are about 100 records. How do I do this without screwing everything up? There are lots of shared last names in this town, so I can't just say stick all the records with a last name of Johnson together.=20 Your help and knowledge is appreciated. Any Access guru who wants to contact me off list and work for very little money is welcome. It's worth an investment to me, but I don't have a lot to work with. Oh, and it is Access XP Thanks, Kathie Katherine Driskell Felts, Executive Director Blooming Prairie Center Deep Roots, Bright Futures, Unlimited Horizons ************************************************************* You are receiving this mail because you subscribed to mso@xxxxxxxxxxxxx = or MicrosoftOffice@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx To send mail to the group, simply address it to mso@xxxxxxxxxxxxx To Unsubscribe from this group, send an email to mso-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the word "unsubscribe" (without the = quotes) in the subject line.
