The newer excel programs use an xlsx extension not xls anymore. If you try to
save it to an earlier format, xls, you will see the error which is telling you
that some of the features cannot be used or will not show in an earlier format.
Simply save it with the xlsx extension and you should be fine

When I save my Excel spreadsheet to an XLS file I get this error:
Some cells or styles in this workbook contain formatting that is not
supported by the selected file format. These formats will be converted to
the closest format available.
So I click continue and go on.
The next time I open the file and save the file I get the same error.
How do I make the error go away?
