Hi Dian,

Thanks for the reply,

In Pagination, Widows/Orphans control, Keep lines together, and Keep with next
are all checkmarked. I read about pagination in Help, but I still don't
understand why these checkmarked options are causing about a third of a page
of whitespace between two paragraphs. Did the author insert ten or twelve
blank lines between the paragraphs and then use pagination to retain the two
paragraphs and their intervening blank lines together on the same page? Is
that how it works? IOW, how did author get the whitespace between the
paragraphs? Does it matter that this document is a template?

I'm sure my guess is wrong because I just tried that method, and the symbols
in my test document don't look like the ones in the original example.

English is my native language, but sometimes Help seems like its written by
aliens.
