============================

Hi all
Does anyone know how to edit the rules in the grammar checker in word?
Mine insists that
training organisation staff contact employers regularly
should be
training organisation staff contacts employers regularly
In Australian English the word staff means "The people who work for an
organisation." And it is quite acceptable - even normal - to treat it as a
plural, like the word people
Word has no problem with
training organisation people contact employers regularly
Is there any way I can change the definition of the word "staff" in the
grammar checker? I do not want to scrap the number agreement rule
completely, just correct its error permanently.

This is one of those, "depends" rules.

 It is relatively easy to envision sentences where "staff" is singular, and
other sentences where it is plural.

And that doesn't even take into account the fact that "staff" doesn't always
mean people. It could mean "pole".
