LaVonne, I'm using Word 2003 beta under XP, and in the File > Open dialogue, hovering the mouse over Word docs DOES show the info you mention (note: this doesn't happen in Windows Explorer - only in the File > Open window). So, I would suggest that if this is not happening for you, it may be a Word 2000 issue.
