Hi Robert.

Sections within the document can't be moved but if you used styles to
create the titles then you should be able to go into

Insert/Reference/Index and Tables/

Under Options you can modify the order in which the styles display. 2
can show first followed by 3 followed by 1

Under Modify you can adjust settings for TOC styles

Hope this helps. /g

Subject: [mso] Auto-sorting sections by title (Word XP)

I have mentioned this before, and I guess I am not doing it right. I
have a Word document using the "Header 1" that was assembled in
hodge-podge order.

Can I get Word to reassemble it, according to title in ascending order?
And move the sections so that they are in correct order?

Here is an example:
2003-06-20 Saturday Final Day for Team...........5
2002-12-25 It's here! Merry Christmas to All.....8
2004-06-06 Jenes-Frederick to Wed................9
2001-04-07 City announces funding for Library...12

Can Word reorder this (and also move the sections) so that it appears
this way?
2001-04-07 City announces funding for Library....6
2002-12-25 It's here! Merry Christmas to All.....9 2003-06-20 Saturday
Final Day for Team..........10
2004-06-06 Jenes-Frederick to Wed...............13

I think it is possible, but the book I have is not explaining it.

Thank you.

Robert
