But, it's not. That's EXACTLY what I'm doing. The value it returns is NOT the
second column. Maybe I'm just going nuts, who knows. I'm willing to show you on
a sample EXTRA SMALL database that I can post somewhere if interested. I have 3
columns in the lookup. I want column #2 to be returned, but it never works.

  Charlie,

On your lookup tab, find the row that says Bound Column and change it from 1
to 2. This will make Access store the second column's value as the value in
your field. (The trick is to make sure this uniquely identifies the row!)

Well, it IS the BOUND COLUMN, but no matter what I put in there it never
returns the correct value that I want entered into the field.

    Subject: [mso] LOOKUP

One of my tables contains a field, we'll call it field A. When entering
  data
on field A, I want to do a LOOKUP to ensure that the only data that can be
entered is what is in another table. So I use the LOOKUP wizard, and
  create
a LOOKUP using 3 fields from another table. When entering the data, it
  shows
the 3 columns from the lookup table, but when I select one of the choices,
it returns the value of the first field. I want it to return the value of
the second field. I know I can just change the order, but I want it
alphabetized by the first column, but the second column to be the return
    field.

    Any help is greatly appreciated!

    ---Charles
