Sorry, maybe I miss understood as I was reading this fast. But I thought
you asked about sorting by a field other than it was being sorted by? In
the lookup query line, after the wizard query you have inserted, you can
add the SQL call of ORDER BY and then provide the table.field range for
the field you want sorted.

Like say you have two fields and you want the NAME of the field showing
up, but of course have the ID linked. Maybe you'd prefer the list
showing up in alpha order by name???? If that's not what you meant,
sorry...go with James' suggestion. And yes, this is done in the table
design mode.

Need a little better description as to what you mean. Is there an ORDER
BY field? And, how does this relate to the actual value that is
returned?

Also, please keep in mind that I am trying to do this is the TABLE, not
a FORM... if that changes matters.

I believe you have to add ORDER BY at the end of the look up field and
enter the sort [table].[field] order you want?

  Subject: [mso] LOOKUP

One of my tables contains a field, we'll call it field A. When
entering
data on field A, I want to do a LOOKUP to ensure that the only data
that
can be entered is what is in another table. So I use the LOOKUP
wizard,
and create a LOOKUP using 3 fields from another table. When entering
the
data, it shows the 3 columns from the lookup table, but when I select
one of the choices, it returns the value of the first field. I want it
to return the value of the second field. I know I can just change the
order, but I want it alphabetized by the first column, but the second
column to be the return field.

  Any help is greatly appreciated!

  ---Charles
