Ok.
So a US gallon equivalent in UK still cost 4/5 x $9.50 = $7.60 - which don't
compare with the price in USA which is, relatively, "cheap as chips".

Remember our gallon is bigger than there, a proper gallon of water
weighs ten pounds, theirs weighs 8lb, it's down to them having 16oz
pints and us having a proper 20 ounce pint....
